African Tree

I have no idea if there is a tree growing in Africa that looks like mine, but when I added the zebra I decided that is where it had to be. Artists' creative license! The top of the tree is the result of sitting at my felting machine and adding bits of dyed-green dryer sheet, threads and strings including some gold metallic, and dryer lint to a piece of green felt. The beads are from a recent garage sale find necklace sewn on orange felt on top of brown felt and trimmed with upholstery trim from the fabric store. Zebra came off a large garage sale find of cotton fabric with an African animal design, which I also used as the backing. I enjoyed the hand sewing and embroidery work after top sewing free motion on my sewing machine. The whole piece is 13" X 13" square. Click on photo to see closer up.

Hi Lynn,
Your Garage sales must be like our car boots,It's great when you can find items that you can add to your art work.
This is such fun.x

Kayla I believe you are right. Do people sell things out of the back of their cars literally? Garage sales can be in peoples garages or in their front or back yards.

Thanks Jan.

Yes they sell from their boot but you do have a trestle table at the front.

oh, I love these!! I used to make quilts, nothing like yours, but when my machine died a natural death (i actually wore out a viking!! enough sewing for one lifetime!) I stopped my sewing and started painting...

I adore the banner and your use of color is wonderful as is your originality....dryer lint is not something I would have thought of and I wonder about it in a collage now ;) ...

I found you from soulbrush, btw...blessings to you, I'll be back to see what's new with you. lots of fun! thanks for sharing.

Hi Lynn, I love your tree! You might not be taking your grandchildren to Africa to go collecting, but I'm sure you'll find a lovely forest somewhere close by. Please check out maya*made for the whole story. Hee hee!
