"Indian Summer" art quilt SOLD!!!!
After the Yolo County Sunflower Art Show ended this past week I learned upon returning from our vacation that "Indian Summer" had been SOLD! What mixed feelings I get when one of my pieces goes to a new home...feelings of being honored as an artist, complimented; and then sad to say goodbye to a good friend I've lived with for a while! But the woman who bought her sent me a note saying she'd be (the quilt) "enjoyed by her family for years to come!" That made me happy.
I am tickled that both Sunflower art quilts I made for this annual show sold, one before the show started 2 yrs ago and this one at it's end. Maybe Sunflowers should be my genre! ;-)

Congratulations! it is kind of sad saying goodby to a piece that you have put your soul into. But still you are spreading colour and joy with your art and that is good. Julie

Sesenarts, yes, the center of the flower and the stem and leaves are all machine felted wooly bits.

Congratulations on the sale! I can relate to the mix of emotions on the sale of a precious piece of artwork. Hand stitching is, at least for me, more personal than machine stitching ... most of the time. You'll fortunate to know that the lady who bought it will admire and love it and HANG it! Eventually, we all seem to run out of "wall space" and "storage" becomes a problem! Oh... if you're passionate about sunflowers ... then, by all means, explore the many possibilities for creating their likenesses in stitch! There's no end when truly inspired ... plus ... you might get to use more buttons ... that's always a "plus" for me!

Ah - I know how it feels. But I think the emptyness after being departed from something means that you put a lot of your heart in your work - which is a very good thing :). And letting go makes room for you to grow as an artist. That is also a very good thing!
